Coastal Callalily
I respect anything that can survive in the harsh realities of the coastal northwest. Callalilies have what it takes and they are an iconic beauty like a nautilus shell. The cottage where we stayed in Yachats had these lovely plants framing many of their abodes.

Quick Sketch of Tanger Outlet
The girls went in search of a good shopping fix. I passed the time hanging out by the car and then I sat down and did this quick sketch of the southwest corner parking lot scene. If nothing else I am building my confidence to sketch en plein air. With sketchcrawl only forty some days [...]

Watercolor of Mother and Daughter
Mother and daughter churn butter in front of their clapboard house. Taken from a photo at Mission Mill’s 26th Annual “Sheep to Shawl”.

This motif view is one of my favorites and moving only a foot or two changes the buildings’ relationships drastically. [...]

Vroom..Vroom
This sketchbook entry is a tribute to a car show that came to Mission Mill a week ago Saturday. One of the coordinators owned this and we talked a bit about cars. His restored Fairlane 500 and my checker cab in 1600 pieces.
I am just using the pen and have not initially done this in [...]

Salt & Pepper
This was a quickie for an anniversary card. It’s our 21st. So, I opened my never tried masking pen and proceeded to wreck yet another brush! It was fun though because I kept over-doing the pigment and in desperation I used a paper towel to sop up and manipulate excess color. (which is a cool [...]
Jason Lee House at Mission Mill
This is my fourth watercolor. It was sketched on Saturday, April 11th for Sketchcrawl 22 and watercolored today. I have no idea what I am doing, but realized I had never looked at a fir tree so closely in thirty two years of living in the Northwest. Sketching and watercolor has caused me to see [...]
